Fish Eye Camera

The term "Fisheye lens" is derived from the large angle of view that this lens creates and is comparable to the view from an eye of a fish. Fisheye lenses were initially designed for use in astronomy thanks to their capacity to record the whole sky but are used today to serve a variety of purposes. Fisheye lenses allow photographers to add more dramatic, artistic, or even humor to photos and also the ability to concentrate on the subject and thus achieve an extremely wide area of coverage. Fisheye lenses are now popular with a variety of photographers because of their distinctive, distorted images. Lenses are typically made to correct barrel and pincushion distortions, but when using a fisheye lens, these corrections to the lens aren't applied and distortions are visible. There are two major types of fisheye lenses. Circular and Full-frame Fisheye have very different outcomes.

Circular Fisheye

Circular fisheye lenses typically provide a 180-degree angle view or greater that is projected as a circle in the frame. The image will be highly deformed and will become more noticeable based on the distance of objects to the lens, and also in which part of the frame they're located.

Full-frame Fisheye

Full-frame fisheye lenses create an image circle that is larger and encompasses the entire frame. Due to this, the angle created by these lenses is only 180 degrees between corners. This kind of fisheye is the one most frequently used by photographers. There is a possibility to purchase one zoom lens that blends the two fisheye formats in one lens, for instance, the AF-S Fisheye Nikkor 8-15mm f/3.5-4.5E E-Lens. Another consideration for lens fisheyes is whether it can be utilized on the FX as well as a DX DSLR camera, as the various sizes of sensors within these formats alter the angle of view that the lens can provide.
